  2. Thank you! I did it and haven’t had any sub for about 3 weeks. The first few days were pretty tough and didn’t really sleep until the 7th day. I was happy w/ 2 or 3 hrs by the 4th day. I wasn’t sure if I could do it but I did. I get cravings but it passes quickly. No more pain or crawlies or cramps. I feel confident that I’ll stay clean but I dare not say NEVER, seems like there is something damning about that word Good luck to all. Kiss kiss.

  12. I am a long time heroin addict. I have been on methadone for almost two years. I have been clean from heroin during that time. I will say this…this guy is right suboxone is preferable to methadone or anything else as a way to kick opiates.

  16. I’ve been on suboxone for a year & have steadily tapered down to almost 0. I’m on the last stretch and hope I’ll be done soon. I could never taper off of any other opiate. I am a bit withdrawn socially but am doing 100x’s better than I was as a common junkie. I think its great in that it gets you out of the scene and is good practice for sobriety. I agree w/ maple2619 completely, if I do need this for the rest of my life, I’m okay with it. Better than a full blown relapse or worse. thx

  20. - And if they DO decide to stay on it because of their situation/addictiveness and personal feelings regarding recovery then they should be givin NO LESS respect than “those hundreds of people who got off” that you talk about.

Being CLEAN doesnt have to mean OPIATE FREE, It is living a way of Life that is different from the life you led while on the drugs before treatment. and if your happy and doing well whether on methadone/suboxone or not, then THAT is all that counts. Stay Clean.

  22. Thanks for your comment. First of all I do want to get off opiates. But while I am still taking a partial opiate today, I am CLEAN from the the constant struggle of living everyday conning cheating lying and manipulating my way into death or jail to get a drug. And although I DO want to get off all opiates, I myself aswell as many other people who have tried and fought and struggled with every aspect of recovery, even then, we know that we will most likely not be able to stayaway.

  24. those on it for long time tend to suffer from PAWS, post acute wd symptons, no fun, trust me.

Also, partial or not, sub is an opiate, you can’t talk about being clean on it, you’re just as constipated, sexually dysfunctional, possibly antisocial etc on it.

Meeting? That would be AA I take it, that crap is downright dangerous, check out rational recovery or SMART if you feel you need a program, which you don’t, btw, it all comes down to What Do You Want, that’s all there is to it.

  26. I don’t get it, you’re trying to get off opiates but you’re on sub for 2 years? What’s stopping you?

Sub is a useful drug but what we know now the safest thing to do is a rapid detox, plan B being a slow taper not longer than 3-4 months.
I’ve been on sub and detoxed it and talked to hundreds of people who done both I can tell you it’s not black&white but for sure, no “healing” takes place on sub. Many people feel terrible on sub, others feel great. Some detox smooth but those on it for long time
