I am exactly in the same boat as you. I just started my suboxone treatment today after what sounds like a similar habit. I have definately decided to stay away from Methadone because it had become almost a DOC due to its long lasting effects. I do know suboxone works because I have used it when there was nothing else available. To those that say you dont get a high from it I say thats not true at least not at first. It is a partial agonist so there are some opiote like affects at first.

I started taking suboxone yesterday. And I have seen it work first hand. A friend of mine has been clean for three years now thanks to suboxone.. Good luck and stay clean!!

I agree maple2609 , being on soboxone is just as bad as anything else. Im on it. I really wish it were that easy to say i am clean , but getting off soboxone is just as hard , becuase once you’re off it you realise you can use heroin/opiates again and get really high.. so its hard to overcome that urge … very hard ;[

Did you ever use Heroin ? Methodone is so cheap and nasty..
good work on soboxone…………….. it makes you not think about other opiates because you cant use them… good luck.. dont inject it… ;[

good job girl. u got it. i was the lowest of lows shooting heroin 10plus times a day. and i started small snorting vikes and tylox to shooting oxys and heroin. i went to detox when i was 19 and did it cold turkey for 9 months then relapsed for a month. now i am on suboxone and i know that if i take every pill in the bottle i wont get high. and with subs in my system no heroin will get me high so theres no urge to use. i am now 1 yr clean down to 2 mgs a day and i can honestly say i am happy.

Best of luck 2u. i was a heroin/oc junkie. been off subs a year and totally clean except for pot (which i rarely do neway). Dont do subs too long cuz u can get hooked on those dont do longer than a year.

I think that is a wise choice that is my opinon tho. I was addicited to Vikes, and Morphine, and didn’t have too much trouble, until I started the Methadone, the W/D from those is so much worse. The point of the whole thing is if u are using Methadone to try and quit I give u props. It is a step in the right direction. Everyone has very stong opinons on this subject it is very hard to deal with, and a very prominent problem in our society.

I’ve been an addict for 15 years.I paid over GBP10,000 ($20,000) on detoxes only to come out to no aftercare/help when I needed it most.I was clean for over one year, I ended up relapsing after I was charged for possession of a shotgun. My second time clean lasted little over 4 months,I am now stable on meth. I was on 90mls and have started reducing 5mls per month and hope to be down to 40mls by the end of the year to have a go at the subutex program as it has a higher success rate.

you know that sub is a “harm reduction therapy” and may help but it’s a holding pattern like methadone and that’s ok as long as you don’t decive yourself. Sub and methadone are very similar in how they are used and can help

-Dont let someone tell you your not CLEAN just because your most comfortable on Suboxone/Methadone. Being “Clean” is different for everyone. If your happy with life and can say that you are done with the old life style you long lived, then THAT my friend is “clean” to me.

no offense sweetie but if you really just “didnt wanna be high anymore” then why did you “live it up” by taking 130mgs of done last night? if you just want to maintain your addiction then suboxone is the way to do it. if you really want to quit and ween off and think you have the will power, then methadone is the way cus you can go 1 mg at a time. i know it is possible. everyone is NOT different thats a cop out. some people are just stronger than others

IMO suboxone was put here by an angel of mercy.
I hate methadone with a passion.
Suboxone is the best thing that ever happened to me. A paltry 2mg under my tongue and 15 minutes later NO WITHDRAWL!!!!!
I have however took a little more than I was supposed to and found that suboxone was a very strong drug indeed.
I was snorting 240mg of oxycontin every day as well as using Heroin from time to time. Thank god for suboxone..It does what methadone is supposed to do but dosent.

geting off suboxone is easy, i just wish i could fucking get ahold of some right now, the trick is take the smallest ammount possable, and get off that shit fast, u have to be able to put of wth a lil pain

Amen, one day at a time. Use the subs till u can find the strenght to go it alone. I am 6 months out and still on 16 mg a day. I feel like my doc is getting pissed but it is all I can do for the moment to keep me sober. Good luck to you.

Still doing good, started tapering a bit, I cannot describe how free I feel, my life is really going well, it will be a long road but I am willing to whatever is necessary to never go back to using. Good for u too, keep on keepin on as they say!!

Go for it! It was the best descion I have made in a long time. I try to ignore the negative but it still hurts and pisses me off a little. Just wanted to share my experience in hopes someone who was researching Suboxone might see I made it and try it themselves. I wish you the best keep in touch and let me know how it goes.

I cant believe the way some people respond on You Tube. I guess its the anonamitity that gives them the courage. IGNORE THEM. I am considering suboxone this week and looked on you tube to see what other people thought of it.I thank you for your post.

Don’t worry about people calling an idiot. Just focus on your recovery, there is always someone looking to spew some anonymous hate here at youtube.
I am on sub now, my insurance ran out some time ago though and though I had stockpiled the medication I am now having to taper. Be aware that the longer you are on it the harder it is to get off. I am finding it VERY hard to get off of this now. I am over a year out of rehab and sober except for this. Keep your dose low, trust me. It works better.
