Methadone does save some lives, but most people at the methadone clinic abuse their priviledge. They get their daily dose and then leave the clinic after 15 minutes and pop something like phenergan or do something else. On the other hand, methadone when used wisely or by terminally ill can and has saved lives. People quit methadone when they are ready and want to quit. Methadone withdrawals are so terrible, that it takes about a year to begin to feel normal again after one quits.

And yes people can take pain pills and not be high. If you have a high tolorance and take a small amount then you wont feel sh*t. I have seen people withdraw and take a 10mg and still be ill. Give them 4 30 mg. oxycodone and then they feel normal, give them 4 more 30′s and then they are perced up. Everybody is different. Me personally I think Vicodin is a very very weak pain pill.

I’ve been on suboxone for quite some time. It’s as much of a pain to get off of if not worse than oxy. I did a cold turkey withdrawal from oxy at over 80mg a day easily and .. it was hell but I made it a week.. and then got on subs because I thought it might help with the post acute withdrawal symptoms (PAWS) … now I wish I would have toughed it out because the subs are harder to quit than the oxy ever was. Long half-life of subs = .. long, long acute phase wd from subs AND long PAWS.
