Dont take the methadone route,try sub methadone is poisen in a bottle is all take it from someone with a 240mg oc habit then went to methadone to kick the OCs 150mg liquid a day,tapered off the methadone took me a year to kick the methadone to 20mg then i jumped didnt sleep for 7 days straight then went to sub been there for a year now thinken about kicken it too ive not taken over 2mg a day for the most part sometimes 3mg,but please research all your options.

Oxycontin is one of the worlds strongest pain meds..Its on par with Methadone and better because Methadone while providing relief does more to reduce cravings for pills like Oxy

So you are in very similar circumstances to a Heroin user Hailstorm. I can understand why you chose to go on a methadone programme. I hope it’s working well for you. Im in the process of going on a programme myself however people i talk to say that methadone is more addictive than Heroin, which is a frightening thought in itself! I’ll think it over. OxyContin is an Opitae, they call it Hillbilly Heroin, it’s as close to Heroin as you can get but made in a lab. There are 10, 20, 40 , and 80 milgram pills. I was crushing them and snorting them, They are prescribed as a pain killer for severe pain. use them for 3 days stright and you will go into withdrawl without them. Kingofmen describes withdrawl quite well, but I had nausea and severe vomiting too.

Hi Kingofmean. Sorry for being ignorant, but what is ‘Oxycontin’ is it on a par with ‘Methadone’ as im on a waiting list for a methadone programme. Im just curious about Oxycontin

I’m on and have been on 180 of Oxycontin per day!Going cold turkey will have you within 12 hours of your last dose sweating then ,shakes,restless legs,loss of appetite and severe body aches.Oxys.80mg that i’m prescribed can take out possibly any pain there is but abused they’re fucking hell to get off of..Once ..12 hours later i was rushed to the ER after suffering back to back gran mal seizures that nearly killed me…

HELL YEAH! methadone IS the WORST thing to withdraw from…I did it cold turkey from 200 mg…..dumb dumb …I know I wasn’t clued in to what I was messing with…..I was buying the 40mg. tabs….started on OC’s went to Meth..and Ithought I was going to die….2 months no sleep, no food, shaking all the time…broke the legs off a wheelchair in the hospital…got put in a straight jacket, under police and suicide watch….fuck Methadone…never again…my prayers are with you all!

good luck! I tried so many times to stop, went cold turkey or tried to wean, Sometimes I’d be clean for 5 or 6 months but always went back until now.
I hope you can do it!

I wish you luck in your recovery. I too am addicted to opiates (Vicodin) and have weened myself to 25-30mgs a day. My goal is to be totally clean by April 1st. This is without a doubt one of the hardest things to beat but I am determined.

I’ve read multiple places that a methadone addiction is one of the worst things to have to deal with. Even worse than the OxyContin. If you can taper yourself down, even after your doctor stops tapering, without using Oxy, then do it. Being free of opiates is much better than being on methadone.

I have I’m down to 65 mls now, and I see the doctor on thursday, I’m going to go down again. It seems the doctors at the clinic I go to are against weaning down tho, It’s like they want to keep us on the juice..more patients=more money for them. They really don’t have our best intrest at heart!

Good god…80 mg. That’s quite a bit. I wish you luck in your recovery. I too have a physical dependence on oxycontin. The withdrawals are hell on earth. Fortunately only 10mg of methadone is enough to keep me from using, and I intend to taper it down. But you should get off the methadone as quick as possible. Start reducing your dose if at all possible.

no it is a physical withdrawal that can cause seizures. worse withdrawals than heroin, the only withdrawals that can KILL you!! do not mess with them, i was prescribed klonopin and i had to get off them and it was 2 months of hot and cold flashes and they werent sure if i would start having seizures. they are by far the worst physical withdrawals one can go through honestly, i am just looking to help you out. just wean yourself down.

Unfortunately suboxone or subutex are not available in Canada just yet. I know that meth is really addictive, I’ve been sick from not getting my dose just 1 day. But I have already started to wean myself off.ppl always say that benzos are hard to get off of but I have never experienced ANY withdrwal symptoms from them (not that I want to!) and have used them on and off for years. (i know how dangerous they are with Methadone) weird. Is it more a mental withdrawl?

hey get off methadone and switch to suboxone or subutex, or just go back to oxys because theyre easier to get off of than methadone. not trying to tell you what to do but look into it, methadone withdrawal is 2nd to only benzos. unless you plan on using for the rest of your life get off that shit!!
