I have personal experience from hearing stories thru people, I personally have n oreason to take a med like that, I’m a children’s social worker for abused and neglected children, and we come across so many families that where put back together and are happy because the parent/s received methadone. Methadone is for MAINTANCE TREATMENT, it occupies the receptors in the brain so that person wont be sick, alot of perople cant hide from addicton, it’s in their genetics, you should do some reading!!!

Sadly, There is mcuh more facts then you are posting here. Most sounds as though it is your personal experience. Methadone is killing people who are taking it as they are told and they do not always have to mix it with something else to die. Just because some people experience a suitable outcome does not remove the truth of how deadly this drug really is. It is the #1 killer in this country and that fact you can not change. Methadone does nothing more then feeds the addiction, not cure it.

People die because of doctors prescribing it for pain and doesn’t tell the patient how dangerous it can be and to start slowly and at a low dose, and to keep it locked up from teenagers and irresponsible people. This is one drug where one extra dose can kill, but yet it has helped many people with severe pain, my mother took it when she was dying of cancer, and it made her more comfortable then any other pain med she tried. Methadone has such a bad reputation that it doesnt deserve.

Methadone will always be around, whether anyone likes it or not, and I agree their should be awareness cause of many people that do abuse it and lost their lives, but methadone will save the people with severe addiction to opiates, and it gives back their lives, it’s better then how in canada they wanna do heroin maintance, now I think thats terrible. I am NOT on methadone, but yet I advocate FOR people using methadone for addiction, I have lost friends and family members due to drug use when they could of had a chance if their was methadone and/or suboxone treatment in my area, which their isnt, the nearest being almost 2 hours away. I know methadone can be very dangerous when abused or mixed with other drugs/alcohol, but it does have it’s place in medical treatment, and it has saved many lives, ignorance kills!!!

It’s obvious that these people are mad at Methadone because someone in their family overdosed on it. It might not be a good idea to brag about using Methadone for 28 years because right now their are politicians that are considering making serious changes in Methadone use for addiction.
