The profit CRC makes IS large. However, Profit margins for the drug Oxycontin are also. Any successful business is going to be profitable. The drug problem we have in West Virginia just shows how badly these clinics are needed. If we had cleaned up our life by using Suboxone we would be commended. I am so tired of the stigma. I am also tired of apologizing for using whatever means necessary to save my life & I refuse to do it any longer.
CRC has one of the most strict and supervised take home plans in the country. One fact that is seldom mentioned, that most of the methadone overdoses are from methadone that comes from pain clinics and private doctors..not the treatment centers. The treatment center will monitor the patient until they establish a stable dose. This is what is lacking with pain clinics and private practices. They subscribe without knowing the patients history or tolerance. Every person reacts differently.
I think all of the fighting and going back and forth will help no one. We ALL need to work together to try and solve this problem. Methadone works when used properly..there is the key! Like any medicine, when used properly it is 100 percent safe. Still,it is a very dangerous drug if abused,no doubt about it and CRC has tightened the leash on their patients. The take home medicine is shrink wrapped with a special wrap and if called in for a bottle check if this is disturbed in any way you lose all
Idiots..these delegates and legislators are nothing more than political pawns paid for by the anti-drug and anti-methadone groups. In fact, several of these delegates speaking out against methadone have family members who have been saved by the drug. Sad,the hypocrisy in WV,especially in Logan county. By curtailing or further regulating what is already the most studied and regulated drug on the market, they are just going to cause many who would be saved to turn away because of the lies.
Nearly EVERY overdose death attributed to methadone in WV is,in fact,a mixture of drugs. Usually, several are found but most common is Benzodiazepines better known as nerve medications such as Xanax,Valium and Klonopin. Also, very few deaths are patients at the clinics, usually people who get the methadone from a street source or private practice doctor. The misinformation in WV is staggering..shameful how the anti-methadone groups have lied about this life-saving medicine and treatment. It works.
did they mix the drugs?
