The anti-Suboxone crusaders will tell you that taking Suboxone is substituting one drug for another. Oh really?!

  2. Sorry– that’s a life-long problem! It is funny though– one flamer who hates Suboxone writes and says I look ‘doped up’ (I’m not), others say I’m too animated… Theres’s just no pleasing some people!

  6. thank you so much for this information. you have just given me so much hope and information as i go through this long and hard battle with addiction. I can finally see light at the end of this dark tunnel. I really hope they offer this drug in Canada. Thank you so much again and keep spreading the news because knowledge is power!!!

  8. so, are you telling me that you were addicted to opiates at one time? if so, i’m glad to see what you did there. i want to be just like you, helping people get out of dependence hell. i’m on suboxone right now (i’ll admit i have been using from time to time) but i find it to be a miracle drug. the first couple weeks i was on it, i noticed myself becoming much happier than when i had to steal and lie to get my money and my drugs. i was freed from the stress of having to support my raging habit.

  10. if u are on subs for a while. how bad is it really? do u really get soooo addicted to these subs that its worse than the addiction before? it cant be! i thought subs break up your compulsive behavior and allow healing of your receptors? if you were to put a oxycontin 80mg tab on the table, and a 8mg tab sub right next to it, (i know their different drugs and it would be diffucult 2 compare) but how big of a difference in strengh is there?

  12. I just wanted to say thanks doc for spreading this information. I am addicted to oxycodone and have been for about two years. I have been weighing my options and I have been looking into suboxone. I have watched all of your videos and have learned a lot. I will be seeing an addiction therapist for the first time tomorrow and will talk to him about it. I had one question for you. Is naloxone “activated” when your snort suboxone (the effect that occurs from “shooting up suboxone”)?

  14. If your friend only took hydrocodone for 3 months, why did he search out a doctor for Suboxone (there weren’t many of them 4 years ago!), go to the office, and pay money for Suboxone? Hmmm…
Suboxone does not ‘cure addiction’– never heard anyone claim it did. And it does not ‘feed’ receptors; it induces static tolerance by binding and changing calcium flow into the neuron. With chronic use you don’t get ‘high’- on that you are simply wrong. And your ‘opinion’ is at odds with medical science.

  16. So…what do you tell the folks that have been on suboxone for years and CANNOT get off? I know of a person..was taking minimum hydrocodone for 3 months….has now been on suboxone for four years (at 24mgs!) and can’t get off. some sub docs should be jailed.
Suboxone DOES NOT cure addiction. It feeds your opiate receptors so that you don’t go into withdrawals. period. and…it CAN get you high.
In my opinion…sub is most effective when used as a short-term detox tool…..only.

  18. Nice user name!– Be sure to check out my comments at Suboxone Talk Zone– and make sure you are in the position to, go off of it. If you are, realize that the taper is very different than other medications– because the dose effect is not linear. All the work is at the end of the taper process. Read the posts about ‘micrograms’ at my blog.

  20. ‘Guy’, I can’t speak for every doc out there– people ALWAYS have to pick the right doctor, whether for Suboxone or to have their gallbladder removed. At any rate, your ‘bad’ subox doc didn’t make you an opiate addict– and going on Suboxone at WORST only delayed the inevitable. You needed to go through withdrawal to get your tolerance down AT SOME POINT. That withdrawal is a consequence of YOUR ADDICTION– not a consequence of Suboxone. Your anger is displaced.

  22. Well, guy…one of the reasons that these “angry” people are so angry is the sudden realization when they try to get off this drug, after months of being on it, that their doctor lied to them about the painlessness in coming off the drug. the doctor lied to them about this being an opiate and how you can get addicted to this opiate like any others. really funny how doctors who have never taken this drug minimize the reports (especially the negative) of those who have.

  30. Hi there, ive been takin Suboxone for 2 years without a prescription, and ive never had any problems with opiate addiction. I started takin suboxone because i got a high from them. but now i feel its very hard to stop. I’m wondering if i should stop cold turkey or weave my way off them. and also since i had no oppiate tolerance, what damage did i do to my body in the last 2 years from takin suboxone? Please help

  32. Not my comment, but there are experimental programs where buprenorphine is placed under the skin as an implant every 6 months– like birth control implants.

  36. If I have to stay on it for the rest of my life I could care less. All I know is that I got my life back and I dont care if I cheated anything cause them fucking opiates cheated me outta everything, so if I can cheat withdraw and addiction, you damn right Im going to and be proud of it. Fuck the dumb questions, it works

  48. Doctor? I don’t know what you are talking about. But suboxone has been a life safer for many people. If you take the fact that many has been taking 10-35 Norcos a day. Plus it doesn’t get you high. To substitue it for just one pill under the tongue twice a day, so what?

  50. what do you mean by “implant in your hand?” sounds like a good idea.
