  4. i take a half of a 2 mg tablet of suboxone once a day, which is 1 mg a day for me….and i cannot get off of it…the withdrawl is torture….my doctor gave me something called trazadone (50mg) and that was suppose to help me sleep. well it doesnt. and i cant even get off a 1 mg a day regiment. i went 72 hours without taking suboxone, and that was 72 hours without sleep and the trazadone wasnt doing crap…so i jumped back on to 1 mg a day.. i hate it. wish i just cold turkied heroin

  6. So true, Doc….these people who claim its no better than using other drugs simply have no idea…unless a person has been addicted, there is no way for them to fully understand…sure, it can be read about, and studied, but that is no substitute for first hand experience…If there were a way to have these people experience intense opiate withdrawals for a mere minute, the anger and bashing would come to a very quick halt. I would put money on that. Thanks for your videos, good to know people care.

  8. my point exactly– sometimes the more beaten down a person is, the more they continue to make the wrong choices!

  10. What is your source for your assertion that “the worse withdrawal is, the more likely that person is to not want to go through it again, meaning abstinence”

you claim it is a fact, to me it sounds like your belief, but if you have some data to back this, I’d like to see it

  14. The part about not having an anxiety issue unresolved hit a resounding note with me . I remember saying (while still on heroin) “Hey , i guess I beat the panic attacks I had for years ” , not realizing the heroin was taking care of that. So when I got off the Heroin , then off the subs , the anxiety came back , and it was a killer ….. Drove me right back.

  16. bottonline a person has to want to quit… coming down of suboxne is a peice of cake compared to heroin, as long as u don’t over use the suboxne and wing off it using less and les untill your completly off it
the real hard part is staying clean, once an addect always an addect

  18. While SuboxDoc knows what he’s talking about in his videos, not everything he says is always true. Not everyone needs permanent blocker therapy. Everyones willpower varies. The simple fact is, the worse withdrawal is, the more likely that person is to not want to go through it again, meaning abstinance. The easier withdrawals are, the more likely that persons mindset will be “one more can’t hurt”. Pain builds you, it builds character, personality, and maturity.

  20. It is worth letting this post stand, as I think the guy does a good enough job at making a fool of himself! “Sober for a year”! Many people can do that– with both hands tied behind their backs! My relapse didn’t hit for over 7 years. Come back after 5 years– if you find a better way to stay clean, tell me and the world all about it. Doesn’t seem to be humility based! You can also let me know how to make some money off my ‘own website’, as you put it– I would love to!

  22. Are u fuukknn kiddin me? F this guy, and f this doctor! What an idiot seriously.. do you hear him?? No dont get off suboxone, you should stay on it bcuz u cant quit, thats BS you can quit and be off EVERYTHING!! Then he says if u do get off sub YOU HAVE TO be on sumthn else or you will relapse again! Just another doctor tryn to make money, off prescribing sub and off his own website. I was only subs for a month, tapered down.. and barely felt any w/d, for 2 days and im good and been sober 4 a yr

  24. i had been on 16 mg for about 18 months, and went away to school and couldnt find a doctor. I was able to get down to 2mg a day to stretch out the length of my script, and to make withdrawal not as bad. When i ran out, the withdrawal started 2 days later and i was looking for opiates but luckily couldnt find them. After the sickness was over I didnt have any significant cravings so If you do have to stop abruptly, lower your dosage to minimize withdrawal, and work through it. good luck

  28. thank you doc i will be going to my apt and maybe just fill a partial script. I was using such twisted logic in thinking I could just quit right now and I know I would have wound up back on methadone in no time. I wish I were in your area because I would like to have a long convo with someone as knowledgeable as you.

  30. k I will keep my appointmentt and maybe fill a partial prescription. Thank you I was teetering and I think you gave a shove in the right direction.
I wish I lived in Wisconsin because I would love to have a long healthy chat with you. p.s. I was looking at your website and wanted to say its AWESOME that you helped that patient’s doctor understand the suboxone needs
for surgery (that has been one of my fears and having you on board would make all the difference. thank you, M.P.H

  32. Few, unfortunately. Each doc can have a couple patients max in the patient assistance program for free meds– I have a waiting list at my office. BUT– in my area, oxycodone costs a buck per mg, and the average using addict takes 100-200 mg/day. Even at the lower dose, $100 per day, vs. the cost of Suboxone– $5 per day… a pretty good deal. And it will be cheaper in a year after it is generic.

  33. SuboxDoc on Tue, 28th Apr 2009 4:56 pm
  34. 4 mg per day of Suboxone– that costs less than $3 per day. Are you sure that is too much? I realize that it adds up, but if you did end up using– 3 bucks would be nothing!

If you really want to stay clean, I strongly realize getting involved in NA or AA.

  36. are there any programs to help costs?

  38. I have been on suboxone for about 16 months from methadone and am going to have to quit kind of abruptly due to a loss of insurance. I am very frightened and was wondering if you think it can be done… I have no desire to use any other drug but I am afraid of the sickness. I have been on about 4-6 mg a day. what advice do you have ( I cannot afford it without insurance)

  39. SuboxDoc on Sun, 3rd May 2009 2:49 pm
  40. You will develop some tolerance to it, but you would develop tolerance to any opiate agonist as well. I think that for people who need opiate pain medication long-term, Suboxone is a great option– it can be used without the person losing his mind to the medication– something that happens so often with opiate agonists!

    Good luck,

    Jeff

  44. Hi Doc,

What is your opinion on indefinate suboxone treatment for pain control? I’ve been on it for 2 years at 4mg/day and I see no reason to ever get off it.

My doctor supports whatever I want to do, but he has little experience with pain control, he generally writes it only for addiction.

Anything you can offer would be valuable to me. Thx

  46. During the first year, doctors can only have 30 patients– that might be one reason for his attitude.

I am seeing more doctors who are using it long-term; The angry mob of message boards say that is ‘because they want their fix’– people who have used Suboxone know that those people are wrong.

Such a twisted thing, that there is so much anger directed at people who finally have the chance to simply feel normal!

  50. Great vids, Ive been on Suboxone for over 2 years and feel i will be on it indefinitely
based on my addictiveness toward opiates, they are just to powerful over me, but everyones different and I think that as long as your happy and are not on the streets cheating, stealing and conning your way into an early grave then wonderful. No one has the right to judge suboxone or the users of suboxone, especially those that have NEVER been addicted. Check out some of my cool user vids Stay Clean Evreyone
